About 300 rural women will benefit from shops to be built at the ultra-modern motor park which is under construction at Bwari.

The parking space in the park, will also accommodate more than 200 commercial drivers when the place is completed.

The council's chairman, Peter Yohanna Ushafa, who disclosed this on Tuesday during the foundation laying ceremony of the project, said the council is partnering with a private organisation to build the park.

He said the council is trying to re-capitalise in order to boost its internally generated revenue and provide more dividends of democracy for the residents of the area.

The chairman warned the developer, 'Drivers Welfare Club of Nigeria', to take the job seriously as the council will not hesitate to act, if they discover any shoddy deal.

"You must work with other unions in the transport sector in the area in order to ensure harmonious and peaceful environment. Anything short of this will not be accepted," the chairman further told the developer.

Performing the foundation laying ceremony, a member representing AMAC/Bwari constituency in the National Assembly, Zaphaniah Jisalo, said he was impressed that the council took the interest of women into consideration while building the park by providing shops.

Earlier, President of the Drivers Welfare Club of Nigeria, Comrade Monday Elimigbe, said when the park is built, drivers will be free from molestation, exploitation and abuse, adding that the project will generate revenue for the council.
