Luanda – Angola's ruling MPLA party vice-president, Roberto de Almeida, Sunday in Luanda said Angolan women play a crucial role within the family as mother, wife, adviser and educator and contribute in a efficacious way to the wellbeing of the society and its development.

"MPLA defends a policy that ensures an effective participation and promotion of women, guaranteeing the right for equality and opportunities in education and employment as well as the participation in the political, social, economic and political affairs as recommended by national and international juridical tools on this matter," he said.

Roberto de Almeida said so while speaking at the opening of the 5th ordinary congress of the party’s  women wing (OMA) going until March 2.
