Hundreds of protestors poured into the streets of Nairobi on Monday to protests over the rising cases of stripping of women in Nairobi and Mombasa.

Since November 7 when the first incident was reported, four women have been stripped for dressing 'indecently' drawing the wrath of human right activists and also the country's top leadership with Deputy President William Ruto calling for the arrest of the perpetrators.

The demonstration was organized through popular social media sites Facebook and Twitter to make a stand against what has been termed as targeted violence against women and since Friday, Kenyans directed their messages to President Uhuru Kenyatta's Facebook and Twitter accounts, calling on him to take action.

''If you are not okay with the way someone is dressed, just look the other way or just find something and cover them but don't strip them. It's just not right'', said Dennis Omondi one of the protestors.

Traffic in the city centre was brought to a standstill as the protestors made their way chanting "my dress my choice."

''Men actually committed the crime and the images and videos we are seeing all over the place are of men actually assaulting women and doing the wrong thing'', Omondi added.

To drive their message home, most of the activists were mainly women donned in miniskirts in open defiance of the stripping.

The protestors urged parliament to pass the pending family protection bill to guard the women against sexual violence.
