Lagos — All Progressive Congress (APC) women leader, Barrister Sharon Ikeazor, has urged the first lady, Patience Jonathan, to visit the women whose children were abducted in Chibok, Borno State.

Barrister Sharon Ikeazor who was among the national leadership of the party that addressed a world press conference in Lagos yesterday said it is when the Mrs Jonathan visits Chibok and other parts of the North-East that she may know the gravity of what the depressed women are going through.

She also called for involvement of women in solving the current insurgency problem in the country, saying when there were problems in Angola and Liberia, women were involved.

"I would like to call the mother of the nation, Mrs Patient Jonathan to please visit in fact, the whole women in the North. We see these women, we talk with them and we feel their pulse. We thought by now she should have done that but notwithstanding, it is still not too late", she said.

She added that government should put in place programmes to help women develop in the region, adding that the recovery fund for the North East is grossly inadequate.

"A real and massive effort is needed. Clearly, more financial resources are needed. Economic revival goes beyond providing substantial funds, it has to be guided by clear objectives, roles of public and private sectors and civil society groups, and must include social (education, health, religion, culture and traditional institutions), environmental, and political aspects, in addition to economic issues", she said.
