The man accused of sexually abusing Liberian girls as low as age 7, 9 and above has been charged by the Liberian National Police and subsequently forwarded to the Monrovia City Court for prosecution.

Referred to as "minors' killer or pone master in many quarters by Liberians who have been following the story since it reported in the media last week, 43- yr-old Lebanese national Jaafar Bashir is currently detained at the Monrovia Central Prison awaiting court trial

A police statement issued to the effect said Bashir is charged for Statutory Rape, Endangering Welfare of Children, and Interfering with Child Custody. All is in contravention of Section 14.70, 16.4 and 14.53of the revised penal code of the Republic of Liberia respectively.

Suspect Bashir on several occasions engaged in inviting under age children as young as six years to his Battery Factory and red-Light, Paynesville residents and sexually abused them while at the same time videotaping his action.

He was arrested after police got a tip-off and pray for a writ of search and seizure through the office of the County Attorney for Montserrado County.

The police said it discovered video recording of suspect Bashir while having sexual intercourse with minor children.

Director Chris Massaquoi is quoted as saying that the LNP will continue to uphold its zero tolerant policy on crime against person, especially women and children.

At the same time, the LNP have also charged Cyrus Saydee and Roland Ben with Hindering Law Enforcement and are expected to appear before court.

The men allegedly obstructed the arrest of Mr. Bashir when police and court officials went on a search and seizure operation.
