At least 1,149 cases of domestic violence, 21 more compared to the same period last year, were recorded in 2012 in the province of Benguela, by the Provincial Directorate of Family and Women Promotion.

According to the provincial director of the institution, Maria Idalina Carlos, who was speaking to ANGOP today, among the cases of domestic violence stand out 730 for family abandonment, 244 psychological and 165 physical cases.

She considered that the most frequent cases recorded by the sector in the province have been moral and bodily harm, eviction, breach of allowance, adultery, abandonment and family abandonment and parenthood evasion.

She explained that among the targeted actions were involved during the year 33,490 people who participated in the seminars, lectures, roundtables and other events.
