Angola is still concerned about the "deteriorating and unacceptable state of African women and youth as they face increasing levels of unemployment, poverty, armed conflicts and prevailing diseases".

The Angolan government's unease was expressed on Tuesday in New Delhi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georges Chikoti, during the opening of the ministerial meeting, under the Third India-Africa Summit, to be held on Thursday.

The minister said Angola is also worried about the functional illiteracy and abuse of substances harmful to human health, among other social and economic challenges, despite overall progress in various areas of development.

Accordingly, the minister stressed that the Angolan State considers important the satisfaction with urgency, of the access to quality education for all, development of skills and capabilities, affordable health care and modern sources of clean energy.

Similarly he finds it necessary to access to infrastructures, appropriate employment opportunities through the development of all sectors of the economy, including agriculture and industry, services, mitigation of climate changes and reduction of calamity risks.

All this leads Angola to support the strategic partnership between Africa and India, representing a multidimensional South-South cooperation that must be strengthened to make it more effective in the areas of peace and security, health, agriculture, employment and social assistance, said the official.

The minister stated that it is certain that the documents proposed for adoption at this summit contain the profound aspirations between India and the African continent.

The Angolan delegation the 3rd India-Africa Summit will be led by the Vice-President of the Republic, Manuel Domingos Vicente, and is also integrated besides the head of the diplomacy, by the ministers of Agriculture, Afonso Pedro Canga, of Telecommunications and Information Technologies, Carvalho da Rocha.
