Source: Sierra Express Media                                                                                                                                                                                                As part of the United States Embassy's commitment in the development of the Media in Sierra Leone, the Public Affairs Office of the United States Embassy in Freetown has selected Female Broadcast Journalist and General Manager of SKYY Radio, Tiana Alpha, to cover the first U.S. Commitment to Africa Reporting Tour in Washington D.C, which will occur at the end of July and beginning of August.

This summit will bring together leaders from across the African Continent to the nation's capital and further strengthen ties with one of the world's most dynamic and fastest growing regions, with the theme: "Investing in the Next Generation"as it is a step towards building the progress of President Obama's trip to Africa last Summer. The summit will also focus on trade and investment in Africa, and Highlight America's commitment to Africa's security, its democratic development , and elevate the ideas of young people.

Speaking in an interview with the proud recipient, Tiana Alpha , who is the current Head of Programs and Acting General Manager, SKYY Radio 106.6F.M., said that this summit is an important step in President Obama's administration to engage constructively, with a host of African leaders on investing in the young People for strong democratic governance.

She added that Insecurity for women and children, Poverty, Access to education for girls and the high rate of unemployment, are among several other growing challenges facing the African Continent.

She is a Broadcast Journalist, with over ten years' experience in almost all the fields of Broadcast Journalism, namely a Reporter, News reader, Producer, and Presenter and lately Manager of an Independent radio station. She was one time Vice- President, Women in the Media, Sierra Leone, and Former Electoral Commissioner, Sierra Leone Association of Journalists .S.L.A.J.

Tiana who is Host of "DAYBREAK SALONE" (SKYY Radio 106.6fm morning show) will travel from Freetown to Washington this weekend and will be filing daily reports on the U.S. Africa Summit in Washington on-line and through her radio station, as Africans, more particularly Sierra Leone, need to be updated on events during this all important event.

She expressed gratitude to the Public Affairs office of the United States Embassy in Freetown, for according a Sierra Leonean woman such opportunity to be part of this history making occasion.

Tiana Alpha was selected among several other Journalists based on her contribution towards media in Sierra Leone and as a promising woman among future women leaderships in Africa. She will be among 22 other young Journalists selected from other African Countries to cover the U.S. Africa Leaders Summit in Washington this year.

The Daybreak Host say's that she will miss reading the morning Newspapers and wakingup early in the morning but vowed to cover the S. S. Africa Summit and report on Daybreak Salone every morning at 7.
