Independent Expert on Human Rights Mohammad Othman Chande affirmed his concern about the issues women and child rights and protection of civilians in the region.

He said during meeting State's Committee on Preventing Violence against Women in Al-Fashir that his visit came to specify urgent needs in the fields of human rights and child protection, demanding the necessity for improving and promoting human rights in Darfur, especially regarding women and children.

The UN expert said that he got acquainted with various reports on violence against women in Darfur, wondering about degree of coordination and cooperation between the state's committee and the UN agencies operation in the state.
North Darfur Advisor for women and children Halima Tibin Bosh stated that the rate of mothers mortality in the state has decreased due stability of security the state has seen, stressing the need for increasing the number of midwives across all localities of North Darfur in addition to the necessity for provision of social needs in prisons, setting up data network on women and children and training courses outside the state aimed at promoting the capabilities and skills of women.
Chande earlier met with the officials of the United Nations/African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) and is scheduled to meet today, Wednesday, the Deputy Governor of North Darfur, Abdulaziz Abdul-Nabi.
Chande lauds the efforts exerted from the concerned parties to stop violence against women and children in Sudan, affirming providing the technical and logistical support for capacity building besides enabling the human rights concerned mechanisms to conduct its work perfectly.
He stressed on the importance of coordination and cooperation between the concerned parties to contribute in achieving stability in Darfur, adding that his mission in not limited to Darfur but it includes all the country.
