The United Nations family is committed to supporting Rwanda in the elimination of Mother-to- child Transmission of HIV/AIDS .

This was disclosed by Landry D. Tsague, the head of HIV/AIDS Section at UNICEF Rwanda.

"The UN family has renewed its commitment to support Rwanda in the promotion of maternal health campaign by 2015, "he said.

Tsague noted that Rwanda has registered great achievements in spearheading the campaign to offer Prevention of Mother-To-Child Transmission (PMTCT) services to citizens.

"We believe that Rwanda can lead the way in showing other countries how to implement Millennium Development Goals (MDG's) especially in improving maternal health," he noted.

He hailed the country's commitment to implement policy objectives, and priorities towards the elimination of mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDS.

"Without the strong commitment of the prevailing leadership and community health workers, there would be no such achievements," Dr. Agnes Binagwaho, the Minister of Health said.

Tsague observed that African First ladies pledged to intensify their advocacy efforts towards elimination of Mother-to- child Transmission of HIV/AIDS and integration of sexual and reproductive health services.

He hailed Jeanette Kagame for spearheading the campaign to promote maternal health in the country.

Rwanda is committed to reduce the transmission rate at birth to below 2% by 2015.
