Airtel Tanzania has handed over 5m/- to the organisers of the Mwanamakuka award - the unit women friends, during the Award event held in Dar es Salaam this weekend.

Mwanamakuka Award 2014 involved 10 women who participated and won in year 2012 and 2013 respectively, the winners were required to write short success story and show case their business achievements were the overall winner to be rewarded cash prize for her business, during the event Leila Mwambungu was announced the winner of Mwanamakuka Award 2014.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony, Airtel Public Relations Officer Jane Matinde said, "Today we handover 5 million shilling as our sponsorship believing the funds will enable to the organiser reach more women and enable them to expand their business and realise their dreams.

We are happy to see winners from previous year awards doing well in their business and showcase their success while enrol to compete for 2014 Award. " "We are grateful to sponsor the Mwanamakuka award for three years now and be part women empowerment initiative in the country , We will continue to support.

The unity of Women Friends in their upcoming women programs to ensure we reach more women across the country", added Matinde.

On his side the 2014 winner of the Mwanamakuka Award Leila Mwambungu Said, "I feel honoured and happy to emerge the winner of this year award, I would like to thank the organisers and sponsors, through these award I have successfully run my business employee my fellow Tanzanians and the cash prize awarded today will add on to the raise of my capital.
