GOVERNMENT has urged women to consider showcasing their artefacts and other merchandise during the August 2013 United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) general assembly in Livingstone.

Gender and Child Development Minister Inonge Wina said women should rise to the challenge and showcase their products during the forthcoming global tourism conference.

Ms Wina said the Government was eager to support women by building their capacity as their full participation during the conference was important.

She was speaking in Livingstone at the weekend after she inspected projects being undertaken by women clubs in Nakatindi and Ngwenya townships.

The minister said women should ensure that they benefitted from the conference.

She said women were stakeholders in the development of any country and Zambia was no exception.

“Government is eager to support women by building their capacity and providing them with necessary skills as women’s full participation in development is critical,” she said.

Ms Wina said every Zambian should participate in the successful implementation of the UNWTO general assembly.

Director of child development, John Zulu urged women to form clubs to enable them to access funds for their projects.
