CENTRAL Province Permanent Secretary Denny Lumbama has challenged women in business in the province to take advantage of the Citizen Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) and apply for funds to expand their businesses.

Mr Lumbama said the Government deliberately decided to come up with the fund in an effort to empower Zambians especially women and youths who were key to the growth of the economy.

He said he was happy that the association had committed itself to encouraging and seeing that more women were engaged in meaningful business which was in line with Government's vision.

He said such initiatives had come at a time when the Government was putting in measures to ensure a more conducive environment for business prevails not only in the province but the nation as a whole.

He reiterated the Government's call for employment creation by all stakeholders because it was not the role of the Government alone but requires the efforts of all especially those in business.

"And speaking at the same function, ZFAWIB Kabwe chapter chairperson Symphrosa Chomba paid tribute to the Government for initiating programmes such as CEEC.

She said the chapter would continue to identify and support women in business and equipping them with knowledge to allow them explore their businesses.

She said the women would only be able to contribute positively to the economic development if they were equipped with knowledge and skills as a means of reducing poverty.

And in a vote of thanks, Mary Simpungwe said that women were committed to ending poverty which could only be done once the women were engaged in business and other economic activities.
