Rainatou Sow - Executive Director
Rai is the executive director of MEWC. She has over 10 years of experience working in the field of development, women and youth. She holds a MA in International Relations as well as a MA in Law. She has worked with several organisation such as the International Organisation for Migration, World Health Organisation, UNICEF. Apart from featuring on CNN's African Voices, she was awarded as the Most Inspirational Woman by Women4Africa in 2012 and also named as one of the 20 Youngest Power Women in Africa 2012 by Forbes Magazine. She was named as one of the 20 African women with powerful and inspiring voices by Applause Africa. She was also named one of the "20 young builders of Africa of tomorrow" by Forbes Magazine in 2014. She was one of 4 finalists for the first-ever African Digital Woman of the Year Award and one of the 100 Most Inspiring Women in 2016 by Salt Magazine

Courtney J. McLarnon-Silk - Social Media Coordinator
Courtney has 5+ years of experience working in International Relations & Development, most prominently in the field of Women's Rights & Empowerment, and Gender Equality. Courtney believes that gender mainstreaming is essential and crucial to achieving long-term results in the global development community. As MEWC, Courtney is the Social Media Coordinator which involves overseeing all daily content and applying the larger vision and strategy to MEWC social media platforms to increase MEWC's reach and engagement in the field.

Melissa Kiehl - Development Coordinator
Melissa feels very lucky to have spent the last 12 years working all over the world in the humanitarian field, utilizing her public relations background to educate, source funds and advocate for vital projects and causes. Melissa earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her Master's from Webster University in Geneva, Switzerland. She began in emergency response but focuses much of her current work on all issues affecting women and children.

Giovanna de Miranda  - Executive Assistant
Giovanna has a bachelor's degree in International Relations, with specialization in Development Cooperation and International Conflict, from Pontifícia Universidade Católica of Rio de Janeiro, where she focused on gender studies, conflict resolution, peace operations, and UN studies. She has previously worked at the Global South Unit for Mediation and Igarapé Institute where she devoted herself to advocate for women.

Nicole Pikramenou - Research Officer
Nicole is a human rights’ lawyer and a PhD candidate. She has an extensive experience in the field of women’s rights gained mainly through her work at several organisations and institutions. Currently, she is living in Germany where she is conducting research on gender issues at the Viadrina European University.

Valentina Demarzo - Advocacy and Communications Intern
Valentina is a feminist who always wanted to give her contribute to empowering women and challenging the traditions which are used to keep women down. After a Master’s Degree in International Relations with a focus on African History, Valentina decided to use the power of social media to fight against all the misconception on Africa, women, and, of course, on feminism.

Pragya Singh - Advocacy and Communications Intern
Pragya is pursuing her Masters in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action from Sciences Po, France, with specializations in Global Health and African Studies. A strong advocate of gender justice and women rights, she is committed to advancing human rights for crisis-affected communities in humanitarian contexts, with a special focus on women's access to health care. Currently, she is interning with Médecins Sans Frontières in India.


Victoria Kerr - Advocacy and Communications Intern
Victoria is currently completing her Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and an LL.M. in Globalisation and Law (specialisation Human Rights) from Maastricht University in the Netherlands. She has a keen interest in and has conducted in depth research in the areas of international conflict and sexual violence during armed conflict, international criminal and humanitarian law, and advocates for the empowerment of women and children across the globe.”
